Job Opening: Housing Specialist

SAVE, Inc. is looking for a full-time housing specialist to join our team!

Position Type: Exempt/Full Time – Full benefits available as stated in SAVE, Inc. personnel policies

Job Requirements:
•A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required
•The Housing Specialist shall implement the policies and procedures of SAVE, Inc.’s housing vouchers contracts including all aspects of enrolling and maintaining clients on the voucher program
•This is a new position and experience in working with individuals experiencing domestic violence is a plus
•This person will also be primarily responsible for meeting and greeting the public as they visit the SAVE, Inc. office
•This position requires the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as proficient computer skills (especially Word and Excel) are required
•The candidate must write and speak English

Responsibilities for this Position:
•Coordinate all aspects of the various rental assistance programs funded primarily through HUD contracts
•Be able to conduct all aspects of rental assistance programs including referrals, inspections, monthly payments maintenance of client files to meet HUD regulations and appeals
•Responsible for file maintenance in accordance with the established practice of SAVE, Inc. as directed by the Missouri Department of Mental Health, Kansas City Health Department and HUD
•Responsible for monthly payments of participants rent and/or utility payments
•Perform Housing Quality Standards (HQS) Inspection and Re-inspections as needed
•Responsible for monthly, quarterly and/or annual monitoring, billing and tracking of program participants
•Assist Landlords to understand the enrollment and rental payment process
•Responsible for updating and implementing changes in program requirements and agency policies, procedures and forms as needed
•Attend local organizational, informational and professional meetings as assigned
•Advocate on behalf of clients and educate regarding housing options
•Educate participants and case managers regarding all aspects of housing programs
•Assist in providing educational seminars and presentations regarding SAVE, Inc. housing programs
•Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with other SAVE, Inc. staff and counterparts in federal, state and city organizations and other community based entities
•Support the operational needs of the agency including fundraising and special events as needed
•Perform other duties as assigned
